The 60th Ministerial Conference of the Ministers of Education of French-speaking countries (CONFEMEN) last week brought together education ministers to address pressing educational issues and formulate strategies to ensure the smooth functioning of the institution.
Central to their discussions was the pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) pertaining to education.
Delegates convened to chart a course toward educational advancement under the theme " Orientation towards Scientific and Technological Fields: Challenges, Strategies, and Perspectives for Achieving SDG4 in the Francophone Space,"
Over 20 member countries attended, including Seychelles’ Principal Secretary of Education Services, Merna Eulentin, and newly appointed national correspondent, Sharon Larue.
Programmes focus on technical and vocational aspects are well underway, as well as inclusivity within school institutions, which are aligned to the objectives of CONFEMEN.
Mrs. Mariatou KONÉ, Minister of National Education and Literacy of Côte d'Ivoire, will lead the organization for the next two years. With the election of the new committee, outgoing national correspondents, among which Ms. Zitabella Labiche of Seychelles and four others, were duly recognized for their contributions.
The transition of leadership to Côte d'Ivoire presents fresh opportunities for cooperation and collective action in the educational sphere, as member countries unite in their pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals, placing education at the forefront of their agenda for a brighter future.
