The head of the European Union Delegation to Seychelles, Oskar Benedikt, provided a positive update this week on the Port Victoria Extension Project when he met with Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Vivianne Fock Tave.
The Port project is being financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Union (EU), the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Government of Seychelles.
They also discussed possible activities to be financed under the ‘European Solidarity Action with Seychelles’ (EnSEL) programme.
The EnSEL, which will focus on two main thematic areas, Environment and Climate Change, and Governance, aims to assist in capacity building and technical assistance to the Government in the two areas. The draft financing agreement for EnSEL is expected to be signed between Seychelles and the European Union shortly.
Other subjects touched upon in this week’s dialogue were Maritime Security, Seychelles’ move from the Black list to the Grey list of the EU regarding non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes, Anti-Money Laundering and the upcoming EU Political Dialogue.
